Shoe Boxes Get a New Life

Don’t throw out those shoe boxes. They make great storage boxes if they are the kind that can be “turned inside out!”

Take a look at shoe boxes – some of them don’t use glue to put the box together.

• Cool for them – probably saves money.
• Cool for the environment – less toxic materials in manufacturing.
• Cool for us – we get to turn them inside out and re-use them!

Look inside and see if the flaps are glued down or tucked and folded etc.
So far, the ones I have encountered that don’t have the glued construction are the ones that come in one total piece – the lid is hinged not a separate lid.

Step 1: Unfold your box.
Step 2: Fold it back together inside out.
Step 3: Optional – add decorative labels and fill them up with anything you have that needs organizing.

These labels turned out pretty cool looking in the photo. They look three dimensional – but they are only a paper label. I found an interesting image on-line, put the photo in my graphic program and put the text in white in the center. Printed it out and trimmed around the edges and glued it to the front of the box.

Save the life of a box – you’ll feel good!
